Lace Up For Laura Video by Jared Gunnell, Executive Director SAPA TV
On June 29, 2019, a huge number of Laura Cody McNaughton supporters, (young and old, Vermonters and out-of-staters), came out in their purple t-shirts and purple shoe laces to participate in a memorial 5K walk/run in Laura's name. Laura was taken from us just one short year ago. This auspicious event was organized in her honor. The event was planned to raise money for the Laura Cody McNaughton Memorial Fund, which will give a scholarship to a worthy student. Over $17,000 was raised at this one event.....pretty spectacular! The scholarship fund is sustainable and events will be planned on an annual basis in Laura's name, so that scholarships can be given each and every year. Laura Cody McNaughton will always be remembered as a truly remarkable woman and a loving and devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and neighbor. Laura was a gifted human being, an energetic and visionary school board member, an active community servant, and a superb leader in the field of health and wellness in the state of Vermont. In short, Laura was extraordinary! Though we continue to mourn her loss a year later, we are inspired by her legacy and the challenges she left for us to embrace and conquer.
