Youth Risk Behavior Survey

Every other year, grades 6, 7 and 8, all over VT, take the Youth Risk Behavior Survey.  The survey is highly confidential.  The state compiles the data so it is confidential and schools and students are not identifiable, but it certainly gives a clear snapshot of what our youth are doing locally and in the state, and things students find challenging and may need help with.  Schools rely on this information from the state to know what resources and support to plan for and provide to help students be more successful in life and in school.  Parents are encouraged to get copies of the survey to look it over before their child takes the survey.  Parents have a right to opt out of their child taking the survey, as well.  Ms. Brown, Guidance Counselor, will be meeting with grade 6-8 students today to show them the parent notification letter and to give each student a copy to take home tonight, also attached here to this electronic notification.  Ms. Brown will also talk about the survey with students.  Attached to this Friday's newsletter will be the  YRBS notification letter for grades 6-8. For more information, please contact Jenna Brown in the WS Guidance Office.  The survey will be given on March 4th, so opt out letters from parents will need to be sent to school no later than this Friday.
