The Penny Sale for Books will be from 7 am to 2 pm Thursday and Friday, January 24th and 25th, on the stage in the AP Room. I have extra money in a jar and will share with any student who forgets their pennies. Look for some exciting bags of books to come home over the next two days! Our goal is to put at least 3 or 4 books in the hands of each and every student, K-8, in our school!
A special shout out and thank you to our friends at Mount Ascutney Prevention Program, (MAPP)! We asked them for $3,000 in October to buy a program called the Michigan Model, a school health curriculum with supporting materials, (one approved by our entire SU), so we could have current resources to teach the health and wellness standards required of us, K-8, as defined by the AOE's Education Quality Standards. The MM manuals, books and materials were received in early November and unpacked at a November Faculty meeting. In December, we reviewed the scope and sequence again, and selected the units teachers wanted to begin teaching. We have found this program to be amazing and one we didn't think we could afford until MAPP worked with us to make this happen. Thank you, Melanie Sheehan, our MAPP coordinator, for being so generous with your time and resources. The students and teachers are so happy to have cutting edge curricular materials at their fingertips.
