Please mark your calendars with these important testing dates. We are shooting for perfect attendance on these days! I will be giving pep talks and test taking strategies in grades 3-8 right before each test.
Spring 2018 SBAC & VTSA Testing
As the weather gets warmer and spring quickly approaches, Weathersfield School is preparing for our annual Smarter Balanced testing in the areas of English/Language Arts and Mathematics. It is essential that ALL students in grades 3 through 8 participate in this online testing and we ask that given this notice, parents/guardians avoid scheduling doctor or dentist appointments on testing dates, as well as get your children to school on time. Perfect attendance is key to completing our SBAC testing as efficiently as possible.
SBAC ELA and Math testing for grades 3-8 will be held May 8-10 and May 15, with make-up dates May 16-17.
This year instead of participating in NECAP Science testing, students in grades 5 and 8 will be participating in a Vermont Science Assessment (VTSA) field test. This is a change in grade-level from NECAP testing. The VTSA Field Test will be a fixed-form online test using the same procedures/technology as SBACs. VTSA field tests are based on the next generation science standards and are designed to be completed in two one-hour sessions. Individual scores will not be available for the science tests, as this is the census field test year. We will get school scores, but the comparability of growth from these scores to previous and future tests will be limited.
VTSA Science field testing for grades 5 and 8 will be held on May 22-23, with make-up dates May 29-30 .
