STOP Signs

We have noticed that people are not stopping before leaving the school yard, in spite of two large stop signs near the exit. People who live on Jenness Road also have a stop sign and this is a prime area for an accident if people are not stopping before leaving the school yard. Families on Jenness Road and school personnel continue to be concerned that folks leaving the school are not obeying the stop sign.  I am hopeful that by bringing this to your attention it is enough of a reminder for us all to slow down and obey the stop signs.  Our children’s safety depends on it!

UPDATE: A few folks mentioned that our custodian who directs traffic, Theresa White, motions people to go. That is true, but let me clarify this situation. Theresa is out there to keep the traffic going to avoid a bottleneck, to aid the four buses as they unload, and to cross some of our walkers.  When she motions you on to leave, it is to keep traffic flowing. Theresa expects you to move towards the exit, stop at the stop sign,  and move down the road. In no way is she encouraging you not to obey the stop sign. I hope this offers the clarity you deserve.

Thank you!
JeanMarie
