Dear WS Parents, Faculty and Staff,
On November 13, 2018, grades 6-8 WS students, along with the principal, teachers, our SEI, our Nurse, and Guidance Counselor, will travel to Windsor to join the other WSESU schools to watch a very sensitive movie called A Girl Like Her. The permission slip and poster about the event is attached to this email, again. Please be advised that this movie deals with very sensitive information. It is about bullying and the impact that it has on students. It portrays a 10th grade student, who had been bullied, attempting to commit suicide and the heartbreak her family must endure. After the movie, there will be a panel discussion at Windsor, including crisis people, the police, and representatives from the special investigation unit, from the area, speaking to all in the audience. They will answer any questions the students have regarding the film. After the students go back to their respective schools, they will have lunch and recess and then participate in activities that the guidance personnel in all of the schools are currently planning together. I would encourage you to watch the school version of this film and decide for yourself if you want your child to participate or if you want them to opt out. If you opt out they will attend a general screening of Screenagers in Windsor at the same time, but in a different location. I have attached the link below of the school version of A Girl Like Her, which will be shown on November 13th.
