Several elementary students have had the opportunity to take advantage of the various enrichment offerings available on Thursday afternoon early release days. Students enrolled in T-Kids have been developing friendships and learning about good character through stories. Young mathematicians have been developing math concepts through games during the Crazy 8's Math Club. The most popular hit has been Mrs. Tracey Koehler's afternoon Maker Space Club. The Maker Space Club is focused on integrating science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students have learned to make animated pictures through a program called Scratch, how to build circuits, how to make slime. about aerodynamics and airplane making, and building prototypes and designs using legos. A new Rubik Cube Program called "You Can Do the Cube" just started up and has generated a lot of excitement. Lastly, there are three outdoor groups taking advantage of all the fresh snow by going skiing and snowboarding at Whaleback Mountain or the Mt. Ascutney Rope Tow. Physical Education teacher, Donna Ewald will also be leading cross country skiing at Mt. Ascutney.
Thank you for your support of Thursday early release days. The additional time makes it possible to coordinate fun enrichment programs that aren't able to occur during the school day.
