Summer Theatre In Paradise Park, July 2017
After two and one-half weeks of rehearsal, movement practice and script creation, the members of the Windsor School Theatre Arts company presented their final playlets in Paradise Park on a perfect summer morning. Themes taken from Chris Van Allsburg’s The Mysteries of Harris Burdick inspired the performers to create vignettes in woodland locations for an audience of parents, friends and campers from the Windsor Recreation Summer Camp.
Rand Frazer and Aria Kelly guided the audience to and from each scene around the park and narrated as required. Play Number One, Mr. Linden’s Library, featured Brianna Diggs and Patrick Lydon-Ovitt as a brother and sister on a campfire evening. A strange book brought by the young boy turned out to have special powers that caused a real transformation. Play Two, So It’s True, pitted Mercedes Garrow and Eve Lydon-Ovitt in an overgrown glade over possession of a magic harp guaranteed to rid the owner of all problems. Play Three, The Stone Returned, was set in the water between two stream banks. When Andrew Richmond threw his rock over the stream, it was tossed back by a stranger, Emma Diggs. Friend or foe?
Audience reception was enthusiastic and respectful and warrants gratitude to counselors Amber Heath and Robert Slocum, to Paradise Park Committee representative Rebecca Roisman and to Principal Tiffany Cassano.
