Geo Bee

Congratulations to the 5th and 6th grade Geo Bee team who competed in the Vermont Principal Associations Regional Geography at Hartland Elementary School on Saturday, May 6th.

Travis McAllister, Madison Williams, Sydney Perry and Fern Day were able to compete.  In addition, Taylor Merrill and Abby Wilson are also part of the geo bee team that has been practicing since February with their teacher and coach, Theresa Westgate. Prior to attending the Regional Geography Bee, the team had a practice rounded hosted by Windsor Schools for the district where Weathersfield, Hartland and Albert Bridge teams also participated.

For the Regional Bee, ss the youngest team, they worked hard to answer questions from a variety of topics that ranged from geographic vocabulary to cultural connections, along with Vermont history.  The two other teams were from Hartland Elementary School and Orleans.  Both of these teams had members from grade 6-8.  Everyone on all the teams did a wonderful job.  Congratulations to Hartland for first place, Orleans for second place, and Windsor for third place.  It was great to be able to give our students an opportunity to share their knowledge and learn new skills.
