As you know, we have had 5 snow days so far this school year. The law requires us to have 175 student attendance days. This means we have to make up each and every snow day. We are trying to avoid having to go to school in July, so we have created a plan that we think might work.
March 10th was supposed to be parent-teacher conference day, (no school for the children). It will now be a student early release day. The children come to school in the morning for a regular half day. We feed them lunch and send them home at 11:30 am. It counts as a full day. The afternoon will be for parent-teacher conferences, from 12:30 to 2:45 pm. Please contact your child's teacher for an appointment, as soon as possible.
March 22, 2017 was supposed to be an inservice day, (no school for students). This will now be a student early release day. Kids come to school for the morning session, as usual, eat lunch and are sent home on the bus r sent to parent pick-up at 11:30am. It counts as a day of school and the afternoon will be for more parent-teacher conferences, 12:30 to 2:45 pm.
If this is a better afternoon for you to meet with your child's teacher, please call or email them for an appointment. Teachers will have to make this day up after the students are out for the summer.
So, this means we still have three snow days to make up in June, (if we have no more snow days). Thus, the last student day is now Monday, June 19th. That too will be an early release day. This is tentative in that Superintendent Baker and his Admin Team may decide to handle the additional days in a different way rather than tacking them on at the end of the year, but this is the tentative plan to date. More to follow on this in the weeks ahead.
