On Wednesday, May 18th, the State Street School 5th and 6th Grade Student council organized a Windsor Community Dinner. In addition, a local youth cooking group lead by Suzan Spears worked to collaborate and serve with the State Street School students. Even one of our Assistant Principals, Andy Tufts attended the event to serve. To prepare for the event, all 5th and 6th grade students made 70 loaves of bread at the school on Tuesday with the help of the cafe' staff, the 5th and 6th grade teachers and a local volunteer, Leslie White. It was a big hit at dinner and the remainder of the bread was donated to the local Trinity Church food shelf. Approximately 50 Windsor residents were served by 16 students. Some of the students that joined them to serve were visiting from 7th grade. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to give back to the community and feel proud of their community service efforts.
