Due to the hard work of the 5th and 6th grade student council representatives from State Street School, enough funds were raised to sponsor the 2nd Annual 5th and 6th grade after-school party on Friday, March 18th from 2:30-5:30pm. This bash took place in the State Street School gymnasium thanks to Mrs. Ewald and the building staff for their support and flexibility. Students were able to end their day of classes and attend the party complete with a taco bar, bowling lanes, cup stacking station, photo booth with props, limbo competition, basketball scrimmage and a DJ. A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Lawyer, Mrs. Deschamp, Mrs. Ewald, Ms. Rice, Mrs. Moody, Mrs. Ovitt, Mr. Gardner, Officer Frank, Ms. Carter, and Mrs. Cahoon for helping with chaperoning, photography, set up and clean up. A very special thanks goes out to Joseph Clifford for volunteering to DJ at the event.
The taco bar was a huge hit, considering how hungry these growing kids are at the end of a busy day. Some students relished in dancing for most of the event while others played a continuous game of OUT or a half-court basketball scrimmage. Many students tried their hand at a tower of cups or silly faces at the photo booth. Drinks, baked goods and snacks were also available during the event. The night was a success and the Student Council is diligently working on preparing for the State Street School Spirit Week, which is to take place the week before April vacation.
