A few weeks ago the middle and high school student community at Windsor Schools was added to a pilot project going on around Vermont this spring to promote school food.
The campaign is called "Powered by Vermont School Food." It is a marketing campaign targeted at middle and high school students. The messages will reach out to and connect with students through the use of hashtag #PowerUpVT along with other methods of marketing school food.
We encourage middle and high school students to support our school food system by sharing their positive experiences on social media and using this hashtag.
The organizers of the project have this to say about older students and school food in Vermont:
"When was the last time you ate breakfast or lunch in a high school cafeteria? A LOT has changed in recent years, and we are launching this campaign to help to change the perception of school meals.
Today's Vermont teens have a lot of their plates. They are actors, artists, athletes, apprentices and more. School meals are designed to provide the nutrients and energy they need to power their busy lives.
What's on your plate today?" #PowerUpVT
Please look for the campaign posters around the Windsor Schools cafeteria. We also suggest you check out the menu for March 2016 which includes lots of descriptive and fun language about meals this month to celebrate Dr. Seuss. The Powered by Vermont School Foods campaign will continue through the spring.
