Today was International Walk to School Day at WS! We started gathering at the old Casa del Sol at 7:20 am. At 7:40, 95 students and approximately 40 adults arrived to walk with us. We walked the back way to school, crossing farm lands and backyards. We came out just below the school's driveway and there Chief Daniels had stopped traffic at Route 5 so we could all cross safely. We were back in our classrooms by 8:03 am and ready to do the pledge together as a whole school. What a fun and invigorating way to start our day!
Special thanks to BJ Esty for coordinating the event. Thank you, Darrin Spaulding, for joining us as a Safety Officer. Special thanks to Chief Daniels for keeping us safe as we crossed the street. A BIG thank you to the teachers, support staff, parents, grandparents, community members and students who joined us for the walk. We had FOUR generations of one family who walked with us today....that was the coolest thing of all!
