Leon passed away peacefully while in Florida at the home of his son Bob on Jan.16th, 2016. He was a 1942 graduate of Windsor High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was part of the invasion of Iwo Jima. He graduated from Ithaca College and received his Masters Degree from Dartmouth College.
Leon, affectionately called "Eagle" by his friends, was a long-time teacher at Windsor High School, as well as Baseball Coach from 1959-1983 and Athletic Director for over 30 years. His pride and joy was the care of the athletic fields which now bear his name. He touched many students and adults during his tenure at the school and in the community. He was inducted into the Vermont Principals’ Association Hall of Fame and the Windsor High School Athletic Wall of Fame.
