As you can see, we have a bright sunny day before us today! Sadly, a number of students came to school dressed in skimpy attire, more for the beach than for school. I have made several announcements about appropriate school attire over the PA, in newsletters, during the lunch blocks, on the website, and in speaking with individuals. It is clear to me that I must take the next step... insist that children wear clothing that I have here at school. Please be advised that my clothing from home, (which I am gladly lending) and the extra clothes we have on hand are not fashionable or cool, but they are modest and appropriate. Students who choose to come to school in inappropriate clothing, will indeed be asked to change. This seems to be a major issue with our 5-8 girls, but we are now seeing a spillover effect with our younger students. I plan to discuss this with all students today again, as well. If they want to save themselves the embarrassment of being sent to the office by teachers and then asked to change into a different outfit provided by the principal from this day forward, they can certainly avoid this by following the dress code rules, pages 35 and 36 of our school handbook. For more information, please feel free to call me at 674-5400.
Kudos to our school for evacuating the building in 1 minute and 53 seconds this morning! The students were quiet, orderly, and serious during this drill. I am very proud of our students, faculty and staff... we are a SAFE school!
Have a nice day,
