Wednesday, October 8, 2014 was International Walk to School Day. Many K-12 students met in the Price Chopper parking lot in the early morning hours and arrived at 7:25 to the State Street doors. This was followed by our annual multi-age K-12 walk around the Windsor Square. According to their website, the Walk to School Day was organized by the Partnership for a Walkable America and began in 1997. In 2000, it became an international event and now schools are encouraged to consider the entire month of October as a time to walk to school. As long as the weather is favorable, Donna Ewald, PE State Street teacher, has been encouraging "walking school buses" throughout the year.
